lame coworkers

Years ago, I worked at a privately owned hotel resort. That was my first mistake. Don't ever work for privately owned hotels.

I had a coworker in my front desk department who was about 20 yrs older than the average age in our department. The majority of us in that department were pretty decent fun professional people. Except for one of our coworkers.

She was on the same pay scale as 95% of us in the department but she would order us about, micromanage us, but into our transactions to make sure we were doing them correctly and in essence bother us ALL day after day after day after day.

This coworker would act as a snitch and tried on several occasions to get some of us terminated. She would brag and brag and brag about the other hotels she worked at and how successful she was, all the professional business transactions she mothered along. She would brag about her house in Maui.She would brag about the Corvette she and her husband bought. She would brag about her fat, hussy daughter who was no more than an over fed illegitimate baby producing machine.

Anyhow, this woman coworker of ours mastered the etiquette and customer service of hotel/hospitality but was 110% fake about it. She was literally dripping in gooey fakeness and would WAY over do it when talking with guests in person and on the phone. It would disgust us.

All that PLUS the constant bragging......so if she was so wealthy, if she was really a P.I. (which i totally believe she was), if she had a house in Maui and what not, WHY was she working for a small hotel for under $12 an hour ??????

I worked at that hotel for about a year and 6 months in, it became evident that she either had to die or be fired lol. I'm trying to be humorous about the anxiety she caused everyone.

I would sit and dream of a day when I could come into work and not have this coworker there. I would literally dream about her getting fired.

We had a celebrity come to the hotel once with their spouse and she acted extremely unprofessional. She asked to have her picture taken with him!!!!!!!! That's a total absolute "no-no" in the industry. We are supposed to ensure their privacy.

Anyhow, one day she WAS fired. It was short and took about 5minutes. The whole thing happened right before my eyes and I could not believe it.

"There IS a God", I cried!

Everything was better from that day on, in relation to the anxiety I felt every shift of my life.

Until I was fired LOL.......Karma? Eh, probably! OH well lol.

I fought my termination. They intimidated me and bullied me during the termination process which is simply unacceptable. I asked why i was being term'd. They said, "you know why". I had absolutely no idea why. Then I recalled a time about 4 months prior when I was given a warning. The only problem with the warning was, my boss did not tell me what I was being warned for, did not identify the error or misbehavior and did not give me a course of action to correct the behavior/error. My boss just said, "you've been warned and you know why". Well I'm SO sorry but that's intimidation!!!!

Months later, they tried to fire me. They listed a few faulty reasons which I proved wrong with documentation. Then they scrambled for something and told me they were an "at will employer". So I told them if they were going to fire me, they need to list NO reason instead of listing false reasons which are easily proven wrong.

In subsequent months after my termination, several others were fired for no apparent reason and given similar treatment.....intimidation.
