Make up your mind

My boss is a great person, outside of work. He makes jokes and is very friendly. Inside work he is a different person. When he hired me, he said I could go far with the company and my pay would grow with the growth of the company. I started out as a grunt doing meniel labor and was eventually given a project to manage over. He would explain what jobs he expected of me. Mainly to do whater I need to get the job done. Sometimes he would see that I was spending too much time focusing on one particular job and tell me he needed me to be a manager and walk around and manage. Later he would come up to me and say that I am walking around too much and he needs me to sit and test the product. Later he would come up to me and say I can't be sitting because we need to ship product out the door. He would micro manage way too much and would not trust me to do my job.

The main thing that caused me to quit was his dual personality. When things were going good, he was your best friend, he would joke with you and talk to you like you were best buds in school. If he was in a bad mood, which happened more often than a good mood, he would yell, he would blame everything on you, he would make you feel like you were minutes away from being fired, he would put pressure on you which didn't need to be there. The longer I worked there, the worse it got. He got sick often and I prayed for those days because everything flowed much better when he was gone. There was no pressure, no contention and everyone enjoyed their job.

I enjoyed the type of work I was in, but in the end I was unable to work under that man.

I have the same boss. The problem is now I am a chemist and he hired another chemist. he tries to play the lets tell her something game and not tell the other one what he is saying about you. He hired some girl that has fake boobs (no offense) in the front office and she dresses like she's going to the bar. This is everyday. Right now I am in the same situation. The girls in the front office get treated like princesses while us in the plant get treated like we're a piece of crap.

Apparently we have the same boss, except my boss is never sick. My boss is a living breathing tyrant monday thru friday and on weekends and after hours he's a total fun guy.

i finally realized im damned if i do, and damned if i dont. my boss will knit pick at the things i do and find something i did wrong, not because its obvious but because he is a perfectionist.......obsessive and weird.

i realized no matter what i do, he will see things i could have done better. the thing is, he doesnt seek to better his employees or himself...he never says, "lets do better guys"...its always, "im at the end of my rope with you and you never listen".

one day he said, "you know i hate to admit it, but you're actually doing pretty well". i wasnt sure how to respond.....maybe i should have just said, "i didnt hear the first part but the 2nd part i heard loud and clear" LOL
