Merger from HELL

My company is being bought, and we are all getting offer letters for the new company and they are increasing our hourly rate by 4%, 2% to accomodate for a raise that we would normally get this time of year and 2% to account for an extra week of pay we usually get in December (but which is accounted for in our salary, this is NOT a bonus). So, that's really nice and all, except that I am going from not having to pay anything for insurance to having to pay about 3.87% of my salary for insurance. Hence, my "raise" is 0.13% (that's $71.00 a year). So I go in to ask my boss about this, you know let him know that I am a little disappointed. His response is basically, "well, when two companies merge like this, someone always gets screwed and in this case, that's you." Then proceeded to tell me how the "shareholders are getting the shaft on the medical insurance" to make the lowly regular employees not have to pay even MORE for it. And I'm thinking to myself, "does he really think I'm stupid enough to buy into this crap? That I don't realize that the shareholders are making a LOT of money off this deal or that they wouldn't be selling?".

And as if that's not bad enough, he's just an all around ass. I'll be sitting in my office minding my business and all of a sudden I'll hear a fist hit a desk and an extremely loud "G**DAMMIT" followed by something along the lines of "What are you guys doing to me?!" Gotta love the passive agressiveness.

Then today I'm in his office and asking about how to make this thing work and he looks at the plans and says, "How far apart are these things? ARe they bundled? one inch?"

I reply "Three inches"

Bossman says "THREE INCHES?! Why three inches... blah blah blah..."

To which I say, "You act like you've never looked at our plans before!" Which of course he does, because in my industry, everything must have a Quality Assurance review before leaving the office, and he's the one that does it... and I've been using the 3" spacing for like FIVE YEARS!!!

Then he says, "Well, I've told you before about bundling... blah blah blah..." which is BULLSHIT because he has NEVER ONCE said anything about that before.

I know you're thinking, suck it up and quit whining, but I have to put up with this crap EVERY DAY... it gets old.
