Micromanagement Tyrant!!!

There are so many elements to this story, but I'll share just two...

The other day I was written up for the first time in the history of my working life. When I have been employed for other people, one of the top comments I get is my professionalism and work ethic. So I got written up for rescheduling a meeting that I had scheduled in the first place. It was MY meeting for MY team. I moved it by several days and no one had a problem with it...except my boss...

I got written up for not asking her permission first. She hauled me into her office and read me the riot act because there may have been information that she had to share at the meeting and that it wasn't an effective way to do business, rescheduling meetings is apparently extremely unprofessional. She emailed half of my coworkers, moved the meeting back to the original date and then didn't even show up to the meeting! Not to mention the fact that since she only emailed it out to only half the people I've got a huge trail of damage to clean up!

Then, the next day, a coworker of mine reschedule my meeting without telling me, asking the boss for permission or even inviting me to my own meeting! This action has also caused an extensive amount of damage that I have to clean up now, on top of my boss' original confusion fun. When I reported this action, extremely upset, it was blown off like it was no big deal. I suppose it helps if you're really good buddies with the boss!

Then I was supposed to be assigned a fantastic project, the whole reason I took the job in the first place, I was humiliated in front of the entire staff when my boss announced she had given it to someone else...even though we had discussed me doing it...three separate times! In a private meeting later with her (the same meeting that she was balling me out in about the meeting thing) she told me I was too scatterbrained and unfocused to take on that project....even though she forgot to cut our paychecks for three days! It's micromanaging hell!

She sounds like a woman I worked for last year. I requested a transfer.

I think her "boss" has dropped a nuke on her. There's more going on here than meets the eye. What i wouldn't give to be a fly on the wall in this place.

QUIT!! this is only getting worse. I've been in a similar situation and it took me too long to quit. Do not make the same mistake I've made: trying to demonstrate her how good and competent you are. She will never accept it.

Hi! I'm the author and if you've followed this post, I'm happy to report that after I was given an ultimatum to either accept that the entire amount of problems at this place was my fault and to make a public apology (fat chance!) or leave, I stood up and left. This was, of course, after a 45 minute session where my boss and her side kick proceded to tell me how awful I was at just about everything I did.
I was offered a position at a company that I used to work for, I gladly took it with a promotion and I have never been happier for felt more appreciated.
I am not crazy...that boss was! She was a nutbar!
