What others think
My boss is a jerk X's 100
My boss is a culmination of all these descriptions combined. My boss stated to me today during a meeting that I had upset someone in another office. However, he never could give me a clear cut answer as to how, or a specific example. Then I noted, that I haven't spoken to anyone in that branch in 6 mos, he was all flustered; I asked if we could call the person together to resolve whatever issue it was, but that wasn't an option. At lunch the same day, he said, "I am leaving for lunch and I suppose I should eat something healthy right? Any ideas on where I should go (keep in mind he has lived here for 19 yrs)?" I said, "Probably should eat health, not sure, because you had Subway yesterday, so I guess you are on your own today". He said, "Is that how you are going to turn on the charm for the other office? Of course, maybe it's just me."
Am I missing something here or is he pulling a power trip on me?
This coming from the same boss who I have to specifically tell him why I need off when I want a vacation day. Then he follows up with, well, I can let you have off, that's why we have vacation, right. If I don't tell him why I need off, he declines it.
I think the best way to handle your power tripping boss is to trip balls on him when he least expects it.
Next time he asks why you need a vacation, say the craziest shit that comes to mind.
“Hey, why do you need this vacation?”
“Oh man, me and my wife are going to a hardcore S&M party tonight and I’ll need to spend the next three days recovering from it. You know how it is.”
He will never question your vacations again.
Hell, even better, he might not even TALK to you again.
Win win, man.
It is refreshing to read that hell is not only out there in the working world but I am not alone in my pain. What can we do about ruthless mangers? My boss sings the I am most important song every day, me, me, me, I, I, I, me, I, I, me, I, I, I, me, me, me, I, I, me and me.
My boss said that she *knows* I said something about her and docked me on my annual review because of it saying that my comments made her look bad to others. However, when I asked her to tell me what was said and by whom, she refused to ennumerate. She waited for me to comment like I was 12 and my dad wanted me to give him an answer. I said "So you want me to comment on things I was supposed to have said when I don't know what was said?" I thought I left jr. high behind. You mean to tell me that this she-said-that-you-said-that-I-said b.s. goes on forever?! Hell, I am almost 40! I want OUT of jr. high already.
