What others think
No news is good news
I recently left a job at a call center where I was managing a group of people. Not only did I not receieve any official training for the job I had yet expected to be perfect all of the time but almost every smegging day was spent dealing with sales execs and account managers who were complaining about us not meeting quotas that were usually unrealistic to begin with (blood from a stone). It was the kind of place where if you heard nothing then things were acceptable, but behind the scenes there was ALWAYS a complaint of some kind. There was little to no positive praise and when it was given it was so empty and insincere that I shrugged it off for what it was. I was always able to give my subordinates the attention and praise they earned and my relationship with them was quite good. This was not the case for those who managed me and I played dumb a lot because I learned that I would be treated and rewarded the same just by doing the bare minimum as I would/did by turning water into wine for those soul-lacking parasites. I eventually quit that hell hole because I was so stressed out from the constant crap and being crapped on - particularly when it was based on buck-passing. Life is short, people. Be happy and work for a place that values YOU, not your ability to be abused and treated like an idiot.
Sounds like AOL!
I like your last line. How we all wish that way, but reality is something different.
I think we must have worked for the same company.
