Not an asshole but.....
I'm not sure what to class this boss as, because he was never there and barely said a word to me. I was fresh out of University and got a graduate "training" job as an account manager for a transport company. I was sent to work at the transport office at a large paper manufacturer which this transport company ran for the paper company with the idea of being trained by the current manager so that I could take over from him and he could move up to head office. In my first week there was no computer for me, all i did was watch a safety video. There was no training plan created for me, and the only contact I had with the manager was when he would pop his head in my office and say "you ok", i'd just say "yeah". He never showed me ANYTHING, no training, nothing. The only direction he ever gave me was "go and speak to the boys in the warehouse and see what they do".
He then went on holiday, no handover of course, and when he came back he moaned at me for not organising deep sea shipment when he was away. Hello??? Did you TELL me there were deep sea shipments to do?? Do you think that a person fresh out of college with 0 work experience would even know where to begin with exporting containers around the world? Am I a mind reader?
I didnt stay long, when I walked out on that place I felt like tim Robbins at the end of the shawshank Redemption, just when he drops out of the tunnel of shit. It was glorious!

I find it shocking that someone with writing ability as poor as you made it out of college. I feel sorry for your boss—I couldn’t read this drivel every day.
I agree that you could have taken a little more initiative, but I still think that’s pretty bad. I wouldn’t have stayed there either.
fuck that, im far too cool to work in a paper mill. And to the 2nd comment, i find it shocking that someone as intelligent and important as you is wasting their time on a site like this. shouldn’t you be out saving the world? Nah, didn’t think so.

loads of people had training jobs without directions, pc or anything to do. Well, you just graduated, why should you care anyway. Take the best of it, have fun and party dude!!
True that your new manager should get you to job shadow him and show things around. However, not all bosses are actually capable of initiating these things, apparently though it's a part of their job as a leader. So, it's also a part of your job to bug him for work!
sounds like you made a bad mistake. It sounds like a kickass job. Boss that could give a flying fuck that you even know your job is awesome. You are a loser for leaving my friend. Good luck at the take out window and no i dont want fries with that.
Lazy bosses blow. You know what else blows? Losers who get on websites just to write something negative about someone else. I came to this website to read funny stories. But sure enough, just like every other site with user posts, there's one idiot after another posting negative, hateful comments about someone else. Miserable, self righteous scum of the earth need to dig a grave and jump in so the rest of us don't have to be exposed to their sick negativity all of the time.
