Perks Galore
It was a small startup, and the boss also did the books. As a result, he got a lot of "perks": company-paid SUV, company-paid relocation, new home audio/visual system, and even new home furniture. But the silly kicker: a "portable hard drive" purchase revealed in a balance sheet that was shared with the company. Turns out it wasn't a storage device for company uses, but a new iPod for his personal use. When confronted with these questionable purchases and repayment demanded, the end result was a pink slip for those of us who wouldn't forgive and forget.
Sounds like you are part of management. Was it spelled out what was acceptable? How did it get through accounting?
When you say “boss” do you mean “owner” of the company. If so, stop complaining.
People get relocated all the time. Many have company cars, especially in Europe. Even an average IT consultant in Europe gets a company car, plus 4 to 6 wks. vacation. Quit being a whiner and start your own company!
