What others think
Rapid Fire, no not termination........
My supervisor has A.D.D.
She is known for rattling off "orders" once and only once........and I didn't catch all of her demands in order to execute them PRECISELY, then she will flip out.
She hates repeating herself. You know the type. She's the same type as the people you probably talk to over the phone in customer service who rattle off their phone number to you over the phone faster than you have energy to write. (then you end up asking the client to repeat their number because they said their phone number as fast as they could).
I never quite supervisors who expect their employees to write as fast as their thoughts boil out of their head.
Today my supervisor rattled off some phone number. Then about .05 seconds later he was onto something else. I quickly QUICKLY took notes as fast as I could but inevitably, I needed him to repeat the telephone number so I could call the correct phone number. My supervisor said sharply, "i JUST gave it to you!".
Then I looked at the small business card of the person she wanted me to contact. My supervisor had accidentally given me the client's FAX NUMBER.
Have you ever tired to CALL a fax number before??? I kindly told my supervisor, "I want to make sure I wrote it down correctly". (which was actually code for "you idiot supervisor, you gave me a fax number not a phone number- you're fired").
So rapid fire demands aren't always the best way to communicate desires or daily duties.
In this world, my supervisor allows herself to be so easily frustrated by others. Heaven forbid she should have to repeat herself. DICK-taphone anyone?
You are too timid. You should have said "That is their fax number", then wait for the reaction, don't save him, let him react to his error.
A few tiny lessons like that from you, and he'll respect you and be more careful around you....
The alternative is you are forever stepped on.
Think about it. You have nothing to lose.
Buy a tape recorder, than press play.
