What others think
Roomate "boss"
I have been living with my roomate for almost a year now. The last month has been hell. I dont have a job to pay rent, but I do work. For her that is. She will go to work at BlockBuster in a cool air conditioned place while I am mowing the lawn or cleaning the shrubs on the side of the house as part of her chore list. When she gets home she sits in the recliner and changes the channel without even asking me if I was watching tv or not. I am really hating her right now. On her days off she just puts me to work and watches me do it. In the kitchen she will make a big meal for herself and then tell me to clean it up. Pig she is! Her room and closet are filthy and who gets to clean it up.....ME! You would think she would help me out and maybe talk to her manager about getting me a job or soemthing. I dont know how much longer I can be her assistant.
Your not paying rent, so guess what you are the maid! Get over it, get off your ass & find a job so you don't have to do "maid work". Have you lived @ your parents house all your life til now? Your use to being waited on (obviously), if your roomate pays the bills SHUTUP & CLEAN
So, in other words, you're basically doing what a stay-at-home mom does?
Quit your complaining and grow up!! It's not up to her to find you a job, what is she, your babysitter? Be a big boy and look for one yourself. For God's sake. She is feeding you and housing you FOR FREE and apparently part of your "job" is to "watch tv".
I hate to tell you but if you aren't working outside the house, it wouldn't hurt you to mow the lawn, do the dishes, clean up the place, etc, for a START!
If you truly can't stand her anymore, get off your butt and move out TODAY then! I'm sure you could find a nice spot at a boarding house. Naw, didn't think you would, you've got it too cushy where you are.
Sheesh.
You live there by doing jobs around the home? When this happens, you have to expect to be the one to clean up everything. Or you can just look for a job yourself and start paying rent.
You need to go into BlockBuster and get YOURSELF a job. Ask your roomie if you can use her as a referrence if you'd like.
Yes, she may be abusing the friendship by making you clean and by ordering you about....but guess what? If you were working and therefore gone from the house, you would not be around for her to bark orders at.
SOMETIMES living with friends for free is NOT what its cracked up to be, unfortunately. Sometimes it can turn into an actual bad situation.
You need to think about it---- is it really worth it to save on rent money? Or would you be better off paying rent somewhere without someone bossing you around?
You decide.
I live with my boss. It pretty much sucks. He's a friend of mine but our friendship isnt what it used to be, due to our working relationship now.
He lets me live at his place for free. he's made a room for me in his garage....no a/c, no windows (is that legal?), no carpet. BUT its free.
He will let his 3 dogs in the house and they will get hair EVERYWHERE. Then he'll command me to vacuum it up cuz i live there for free. Im a regular houseboy for this dude, cuz he wont just hire a new cleaning maid. Every week he adds more and more work on for me to do as if i dont notice.
Im grateful to have free rent. BUT where do you draw the line on chores and slavery?
I am sorry but this made me laugh really hard... As others said, you are not paying rent, so the LEAST you are expected to do is to clean up and take care of the flat. I mean, come on, put yourself at her place, she is giving you housing for FREE, while she is probably being bossed around aswell in her own job.
I also find it really surprinsing that you are expecting her to help you find a job...
You are in a pretty good situation, so if you are not happy get yourself a job and stop complaining for god's sake. Welcome to the REAL WORLD.
Yes she is a bitch but you need to get a job, then you give her pay back...hehehehe
well you need to get real and stop being a loser! get a j-o-b
