What others think
Tell me what to do...
I wish my boss told me what he wanted and let me do it. He overrides and undermines my authority. I work as a Project Manager and need to have the respect of the team I manage. But with my boss continuing to undermine me I can't get anything done.
you sound like a whiny bitch. suck it up.
Do you work in toronto?
Not enough details. How exactly does he “override and undermine” your authority?
Yeah, we need more details, but these types of situations happen all the time. You need to assert ownership of your team and your project. He probably doesn’t realize he’s undermining your authority… on the other hand if it’s on purpose, you do have a problem.
Have a chat with your boss. Pretend you’re looking for more direction.
First he is your boss, you know what that mean right
Second he is your boss, he do not see what the emplyee see sometime. so you need to comunicate with him about this.
Third he is you boss again, if you still not happy after expect improvment, then you should leave but leave a note why you leave, so next time he will regrete to loose his good emplyee if you are.
youre a PROJECT manager… not a people manager. You just need to make sure that the dates that are put forward are met and if they’re NOT met, then gather what the new dates are. you’re not supposed to manage anyone. to quote #1 “suck it up.” and learn what your job is
Could have wrote this myself…I recently learned that 5 project manager tried to do my job before me and had the same problem. They found themselves new jobs… I am still looking.
I assume you also tried to talk about this with your boss? Without result? Again and again?
I also have experience with this.. The thing is these types of bosses are really working against themselves. It’s really sad how many problems the boss can cause not going through their project managers. However meet the dates and quitely stay on coarse..At the end of the day your work will show through. It also seems to be the norm for this type of work this is what makes your skills of diplomancy such a value in the work place.
Good Luck
