Temp to Hire
Have been temping for this company for four months now. I have interviewed for the position twice. The second time I was told I wasn't what the company wanted. I questioned my 'boss', who does not work in this office, and she came up with my Microsoft Office experience, I proceeded to tell her my tests scores, which were 87% plus. Through out this conversation she totally avoids eye contact with me and she's stammering over her words. She never acted this way towards me before.
In regards to the job description I meet all and exceed at some of the expectations.
Everyone I directly work with wants me to stay because I actually assist them unlike the prior Admin. Assist. I also have the office running smoothly where everyone is less stressed because things are organized and I'm oragnized.
She did ask if I would stay until they do find someone that 'fits' into the company. I told her yes, but now I'm not enjoying the job like I did. So, natuarally I don't want to be here.
I don't know how to explain/understand her, what kind of boss is she? What do you get out of her behavior?
Oh yea, as far as I now I haven't ticked her off or anything. I'm sure I would have heard about that!
Maybe she just doesn’t like you?
It looks like she’s worried for her OWN job—if it took you to whip the office into shape, she is probably looking for someone much less skilled, and that will have much less of a chance for surpassing her.
If you’re not reallying gunning for top dog position you might be able to sweet talk her or… hell… whatever it is charming people do to get jobs.
Hey, you’re temping. You’re boss may be a prick, but you’re still complaining. Just cut your losses, stop trying to be a hero, save yourself a headache, and go…
Possible micro manager, you’ve got control where she doesn’t.
Maybe you’re just an asshole.
It really won’t matter what you say. For some reason (it doesn’t even have to be a good one), you have ‘ticked her off’. So noe it is strictly personal. You can’t recover your loses, if it is indeed personal. Get out now, before she trumps up some bogus charges, and lets you go. I’m speaking from experience. Good Luck!!!
If an office\job site runs smooth, bosses don’t get to be bosses and can look and feel useless. Which can also lead to being ex-bosses. Bosses need screw-ups, they need oppurtunities to show why they’re there. Unless they are slackers who like to disappear. Otherwise in corporate satan’s world, there can never be enough screw-ups!
