The Bitch

We will call her…welll…The Bitch. The Bitch that generally makes my work-life a living, breathing hell. Of the ninth level. With pitchforks.

I’ve never adored this woman, for personal reasons that I will not cover in the particular post. However, much like another co-worker whom is no longer (thank god) with the company, she was tolerable until I had to work closely with her.

The Bitch was promoted to overseeing the technical support department from an office manager position. I was to handle the technical side of things, she was to handle the big personnel issues, scheduling, and resume her previous duties as office manager, whatever those might be.

I was given a substantial workload when the previous manager left, covering several different areas/departments. I take care of the bulk of broadband orders/trouble reports/changes, I manager three online bookstores (including shipping/receiving), was supervising the day staff (now the night staff), plus a lot of other little things that add up to being busy almost all the time, especially when I was working days. On nights, I am a little more comfortable and I am managing my time very well, I feel. Things I may have overlooked in the past get more scrutiny, attention to detail and such. I’m not saying that I do not make mistakes, I do. However, I accept responsibility when it’s my fault, and try my best to rectify the situation.

Ok, enough self promotion.

The Bitch started getting on my last nerve shortly after the new year (or before, I don’t recall), when she reprimanded me for telling one of the techs to answer the phone. Apparently, as a supervisor, I was not supposed to supervise. That was abrasive to me. That, paired with the fact that my evaluation was an admonition to keep The Bitch more in the loop, made for a slightly disgruntled yours truly.

Moving on.

On several occasions, The Bitch scolded me publicly, which is embarrassing and uncalled for. Reprimands should always be a private session, with two managers (or supervisors) and the employee.

At this point I am starting to really dislike this person.

We had a bit of a flurry of turnover, and The Bitch at one point, refused to tell me who she was hiring (even though I was made to sit in on interview processes, call new hires and go through resumes). I asked her point blank about a previous employee coming back, and she blatently ignored me. Schedule changes and staff proposals went without so much as a word to me.

Once upon a lovely time, a coworker called me and said they did not feel like coming in, so I relayed the information to The Bitch, stating that said coworker called in sick. The next day, I end up in the CEOs office with the VP and The Bitch, with a write up threat, because I gave “incorrect info” to The Bitch.

Uncalled for, yet again.

Finally, after all was said and done, I was given the opportunity to move to night shift. There was really no one else to cover it, so I accepted. Of course, one perk was that I would not have to work with The Bitch 8 hours a day.

Does the story end happily here? Not even close.

First two weeks of night shift, I get a plethora of emails about customers that I supposedly screwed up on. In each case save one, it was sheer lack of research and seemingly, stupidity, that made The Bitch jump to conclusions.

The icing on the cake was when I sent her a message one evening, asking her to turn in a trouble report for a customer who was having connection difficulties. Instead, the next afternoon I get an email stating that she had made the decision to replace the customer equipment because she felt that this would fix the issue. Of course, it didn’t, and I ended up turning in a trouble report and getting the customer fixed.

Now, I am finding accounts that did not have a specific thing added that is essential, and her response to the VP when I brought it up? “I thought I was doing it right”. Yeah right, I have an email from 2 months ago where she stated how she was taking care of the accounts. She was just too goddamned lazy to do it.

She spends fucking hours on her cell phone every day, and acts as if she does more than every freaking person that works there.

The Bitch is a thorn in my side, and will be for some time, I fear.

Look, you could really start enjoying your life by playing some pranks. You are an IT vet right? She probably doesn’t really know the branch or know how to be a manager. Sign her up on tons of porn sites and anything else that will generate spam. Sniff her password and start writing emails in her name. Change the order of her keys on the keyboard. Get her password locked. Report her badge as being stolen. Call the ethics hotline and report irregularites. Hide porn in her desk, and then report it. Send sex toys to her work address. Call your customers and encourage them to file complaints against her. You will be rid of her within 90 days.

Sorry - for your trouble... You must be either stylish and good looking or super smart - or both... I'm not saying I'm the shiniest penny in the pond - but at 43 this isn't the first time I too have encountered a
n insecure a-till- of the hunn - who wanted to make damn sure I know my place... I've tried it both ways - telling them to get screwed - and killing them with kindness - but the truth is - neither works... The only thing you can really do is prove the other people around you that you can be trusted and are a good employee - sounds like you are - and they can see that... Just continue you to give her enough rope to hang herself - until you find the job you deserve... The best revenge always - is to live well!
