The Prick
My boss is a real asshole. He never does anything wrong so he thinks. He think he's the best boss ever since last year he "allowed" me to take two days of vacation in succession. I've been working for this guy for two years and its the first time he lets me take two days back-to-back. He always makes it look like he's doing me a favour for "allowing" me to take time off.
The reason I've been there for two years is that he's got me so unsure of myself that I don't have the confidence to leave. I'm working as a junior accountant and know that I know my stuff but it's never good enough for him. But he keeps me around. He tells me that he feels sorry for me because I'm such a fuck up I probably won't fund another job if he lets me go. And in some ways I believe him. He reall does know his stuff so he makes me doubt myself.
I go back and forth. I know that he's played games with my head so much that I can't think straight. He's just a prick. Two weeks ago he had me search for a provision for a tax rule he knew didn't exist. I spent three days looking for it and then I told him I couldn't find it and he laughed at me. So I punched him the face. What a prick! Tomorrow I'm going back to work I hope he doesn't fire me. I can't believe I just said that. I hope he does fire me, then I can punch him in the face again.
Punch him in the balls next time.

Punching: not cool. Even if he is the world’s biggest ass, you’ve just set yourself up for either (a) more mind tricks from him (“you want me to go to hr with that?” or (b) firing with cause that goes on your career record forever.
Bottom line: there are plenty of jobs for accountants. Get yourself one working for a different (hopefully better) douchebag and move on. The person losing out here is you.

Hmmm. In every company I ever worked for except one, the accountants were required to take their vacation in two consecutive weeks. The company where that wasn’t required was taken down by, you guessed it, an embezzling episode done by the accounting department.

If this story is real then all I have to say is: “Get another job! You are the real loser in all of this and if you KNOW that your boss is messing with your head then you are definitely thinking straight otherwise you wouldn’t have even realized that he was messing with your head!!! Duh! If you feel that you can’t make as much money at another job so what! If you stay where you are you might end up with a stress related illness or an injury from a physical confrontation with your boss. Move on and get happy!

Not only do our mouths trip us up more often than we’d like, but out mindtalk can get us into a lot of trouble, too.
God’s Word encourages us to speak words of encouragement, support, and praise. To build up rather than tear down. To confront when necessary, but with strength and love well balanced. To tell the truth about a situation, about our feelings, about life in general.

Why do you let him talk to you like that? The only reason he is doing that is because he knows it gets to you and since you are not saying anything about it, he is going to continue to do it to you. Why would you stay working for someone that undermines you. So you can become bitter and enraged? Leave before you do some stupid acts of crime. If he is the ass hole you say he is and you are not some kind of lazy ass whinner quit. The upper management will figure out eventually after all the good fellas leave, Check with your HR department and see if there is a harrasement poloicy in place to knock him off his high horse!!!!
