What others think
Vacation Screw You
My boss is a coward
Actually, my ex-boss. She fired me and my co-worker while we were away on vacation. Why? FOR TAKING A VACATION.
Yeah, that's right. She fired us because we were "lazy for going away while things needed to be done, and that we hadn't done anything constructive all summer." This is, of course, is complete bullshit because we had been doing all the work she asked us for and THEN some, which we never even got paid for as promised.
The only reason I found out that I had lost my job was when some bitch came prancing into the gallery today and told me "Oh, me and my friend work here now, she didn't tell you? You should call the boss."
Who doesn't have the common decency to TELL me that I was fired before I came into work thinking I still had a job?! I had to stand there and give this little bitch my keys. So humiliating.
You boss failed high school, common sense tells us not to give someone time off for a vacation if work is busy. Of course your industry is gallery…. so idk. Deal with it.
If your boss was so concerned about you taking a vacation during a busy time that’s her own fault. She should have given you the heads up that it wasn’t a good time to do this instead of just firing you and your friend. You should have taken that up with HR.
Why were you on vacation with your co-worker at the same time? Was it a busy time of year?
Isn’t there a law against this? Or shouldnt there be?
She’s fucking mental.
The term douche bag comes to mind.
man i love working for myself. what ever happened to just throwing the keys and freaking. the bitch is lucky it wasnt me that they did it too her car and the new peoples cars wouldve been toast. its only a class three felony but man does it feel good
Are you sure you had permission to leave before you took your "vacation"? If not, you should not be surprised that your job was not waiting for you when you returned. If things were busy, I would be surprised that they would have let two people take a vacation at the same time.
This does point out a danger of going away for periods of more than a week or so- if your boss doesn't miss you, you might not actually be needed for the business to succeed. Sometimes, when someone goes on leave, things actually start working more smoothly and it gets people thinking about options that might exist....
